Netflix at it again!! But before we get to that, when my brother and I were ‘wee’ little kids we were into science and space… aliens, spaceships and everything in between. As artists, we wanted to create weird things on paper like monsters, worlds, animals, etc. As we grew into our teens we were more focused on what we wanted to create and then the 1998 movie Lost in Space with Lacey Chabert, Heather Graham, Matt LeBlanc, Gary Oldman, Mimi Rogers, William Hurt came and at the time it wasn’t to different but it had some very cool moments. And it’s been one of those movies that you can put up for your boy or your nephew to watch when they are hanging out or on holidays so on.
How the Story Goes
The Robinson family goes to space to save the human race from extinction only to have their plans thrown off course by the malicious meddling of stowaway Dr. Smith. They get through somewhere in space and with no way to figure out where they are they try their best to find their way home.
A Bit of History
Now I do want to give you a bit of history of this show cause entertainment companies just keep trying to bring it back. Like the terminator… it just isn’t the same!! But let’s get through it. Trust me, there are surprises that even got me!
There was a shot by the WB, Channel 11 to reboot the show in 2004. I’ll tell you right now that the TV shows back in the late 90’s early 2000s was as predictable as the movies and movie trailers… Ugh… the movie trailers were just so bad!! (One good example is this 1998 movie trailer.) So if you want a good laugh on how bad these trailers were back in the day just click above!! If you’d like to see the 2004 adaptation, sorry but apparently I can’t embed the video here but here is a link to the episode of The Robinsons: Lost in Space unsold 2004. (click to watch show)
For those that love the beautifully crafted Battlestar Galactica series. If you watch part 2 in this unsold series you can hear a very familiar song in The Robinsons: Lost in Space that you hear throughout the series of Battlestar Galactica and apparently if you take a close look at the episodes in Galactica when the ship Pegasus comes in you’ll see the set of the Jupiter 2… ya! Lost in Space set was sold to be re-used for the set of the Pegasus on Battlestar Galactica.
Let me also note for those that did watch the episode and was curious on who the cute blond was, its Adrianne Palicki, Latest shows she has been on was The Orville and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Then we have the really classic 1965 TV show created by Irwin Allen who produced the show during the most exciting and optimistic period of the space program. In 1969 America put a man on the moon. I can’t say much cause … well, I wasn’t born then! But as far as I’ve heard those were some amazing times, everywhere you turned there was a new frontier to jump into. It was never a dull moment then. In entertainment, though it was pretty funny how they acted and how they created their graphics. The best part about this is that you can literally see the changes within the shows/movies. How acting has changed, how producing the TV shows has changed, so on.
But let’s get to the whole point of all of this and get to the awesome and amazing Netflix and there new original series Lost in Space will be a 10 episode series. Which like any other shows they’ve put out I just can’t wait to get my eyeballs glued to the screen. I have to admit though if any entertainment business is going to just start collecting shows and movies that didn’t work well or has been completed successfully back in the day, I’m glad its Netflix! Now the best part about this is that you can watch the 1998 Lost in Space movie on Netflix. So you can watch the 98 version and the new original when it comes out.
The Release Date
Netflix‘s Lost in Space reboot will have Toby Stephens, as Captain Flint. So, here is the Netflix‘s New Original Series: Lost in Space. The series is set for an April 13th release. Enjoy folks!!
