I’m not the smartest person on our little blue ball of water in space, but my goal when I first opened up my business was to have a business as cheap and affordable as possible. Which for most businessmen, that have a business already, know that it means giving up most of your time learning and reading about everything to get everything done, assess and execute for the future of your business. Hopefully, you won’t look back at the decisions you made. lol, obviously that is never the case cause your first mistake is always within the first 5 decisions you made before you sign the business papers.
For me, the most affordable way to run my business without trying to take out a business loan was to simply work from home. My plan 7 years ago was to have my meetings either in person at a public location, video chat, text message, email or through social media. No thanks to Google recently, I used to use my phone to record my calls because during most calls, my clients giving me specific/customed instructions to complete my work. Advertisements would mostly be online. Suggestions and assistance to help people in need of graphic designers, printing and web service needs would be through social media. Like all stories, people thought its crazy and I wouldn’t get any work. But like my older brother said, “It takes 3 years more or less to start making money and to have people take you seriously”. Very true, annoyingly!
Why do I bring all this up? Cause we have basically mastered how we do business remotely. But while I was thinking of the future of business. I guess the world thought it would make more sense to keep doing the same as our parents? But what if the world did catch up to my predictions of where the workforce would be instead of being hit by the coronavirus and now we are scrambling? Yes the stock market is down and work in your fields has slowed down. But it’s slowed down because these companies didn’t adapt to the new world of business before we all ran into this wall.
If working remotely was setup correctly, over time and not at the last minute. There will definitely be less traffic on most days. Companies would present working from home as an option for a senior employee. So if you worked there for 5 years, you would have the option to work from home. Parents will be able to schedule their days with the schools and their sick kids so that way they won’t struggle as much as either a parent or an employee. You’d be able to have more than 2 jobs depending on your business setup. These options would be given to customer service, billing, almost any position that involves you sitting at a desk all day. For those startup businesses that create apps, website design and development, and anything else that only deals with laptop work, you would only come to a “rent an office” for important meetings. “Rent an office” would be very successful. Doctor’s offices would only need a quarter of there workforce to come in per day to assist them in there work. Managers can view employees work remotely and call them if need any assistance.
There would be so many IT positions for all businesses. Think about it IT trucks instead of Verison / Xfinity trucks driving to homes to set up cameras, laptops, PCs, so they can have proper firewalls, security, home servers, all wired or wirelessly connected to the “headquarters” of there company. We would probably have a Web 3.0 by now whatever that may be (we are at Web 2.0 which means we do lots of visuals on sites instead of just text)
Don’t get me wrong there is a downside. Makeup sales for women would go down, because as my girl is working next to me now… she doesn’t know what to do with herself. She actually, for once on a weekday, has no makeup on. I think she looks hot with or without makeup but she has the saying “The first day you meet me and chose to be with me is because of makeup!” …Ya, that’s what it was! Shopping would be down, not as far as makeup but buying all these different clothes. It doesn’t make sense to purchase if you can just wear your PJs the whole day. Though, buying PJs would definitely go up!! So here are Amazon options for more pajamas!!
Half the malls would be converted to offices: doctor’s offices, dentists, eye doctors, insurance offices, travel offices, maybe a part of the mall would be a grocery store to help bring people in. Saw the grocery / mall combo in Portugal. Overall things would definitely be different. I think for the better. In the end you are all stuck in this, “if its not broken don’t fix it” method. But what you don’t realize is, as humans, we are a work in progress as a whole as much as individuals. So, we have to stay ahead of the game of “life”. One of “life’s” players is mother nature… son of a bitch!
