Drawlines B&M: Amazon Pharmacy

Amazon… that word went from amazon woman to what should I buy next whenever you hear that word. Amazon is always turning heads, it seems every year there’s something new to know about Amazon. This time, Amazon has there claws after the pharmaceutical business. What does that mean?

Do we care? Is this something we should care about? Am I just writing things no one cares about?! Well… as a consumer of all things keeping me alive. I guess it makes things easier for us if we are willing to give up more personal information than we already have. The big monster of a business wants to home deliver your medications straight to your house. Though, I don’t know how well that’s going to be since Amazon drivers in the UK would drop off Sony’s PS5 package only for the customer to discover they got a vase instead… or a suitcase… shampoo! Basically anything except a Sony’s PS5. What’s going to happen when medications get delivered? I mean all it takes is the driver to bring his / her own role of tape and they can just open your boxes up, take what they want, and put a sock in as replacement!! Either way, there are some negatives in this situation but understandable why Amazon chose now to roll this out. It’s a pandemic… DON’T TOUCH ME!!

Thing is you’ll have to way out your options. A) Get dressed, walk / drive to the pharmacy. Wait in line to get your meds. Talk to the local pharmacist.  Walk / drive back B) Go online, order your stuff…do other things till the package shows up. Ya, that’s it! But the older crowd will most likely choose A) instead of B) because they like to talk to people. But with the pandemic going on most older folk will go with Amazon so they don’t get COVID on the way there and back.

The way it will work is that you will fill out your personal info, insurance, and address, then you can get your prescription. Apparently, amazon bought another online pharmacy and was using it for day vitamin deliveries. Now they are both feet in the pharmacy business. Then you can either pay through insurance or you can pay by cash in which if you are a Prime member then you get delivery days within 2 days, maybe some discounts on the medication.

I find it interesting though cause the lawmakers didn’t like the fact that Amazon is growing into every corner of every market, along with Facebook, Google, and Apple. Don’t get me started on what the other companies have been doing to expand their “net of domination”… kinky! Anyway, I have another article on those expansions somewhere!

Who does this challenge? Walgreens, RiteAid (if they’re still around), CVS, and even mom and pop pharmacy shops. But not to worry, right now it’s just for the basic stuff. Ibuprofen here some other drugs there. But eventually… you mom and pop shops better get then bankruptcy claims filled out ahead of schedule cause that line is going to belong for a minute!!
