I got word from a friend to watch this show on Netflix called Sex/Life. After work, cooking food for the family, making sure the kids are ready for bed, and laying in bed with my fiance and I put the show on. He wasn’t too happy!
If I try to sit here and describe the Netflix series Sex/Life…the best I can come up with is, a weird showgirls-esque, train wreck that I couldn’t stop watching. The first scene where the main character Billie (Sarah Shahi) was rockin a white, little house on the prairie nightgown already had me questioning my own judgement. Does anyone today wear that going to bed? Is that supposed to be sexy for her husband? But then, when it cut…almost immediately..to Billie fantasizing about her sex life with her former boyfriend Brad (Adam Demos) I knew I had made a mistake.
I’m not even going to get into how wildly self-absorbed she was…actually, yes I will…Lady WHO IS WATCHING YOUR KIDS while you “journal” all day about weirdly unrealistic (think those terrible Cinemax movies from back in the day), decade-old sex with your verbally abusive ex?! And where on “planet doormat” did she find this husband Cooper (Mike Vogel)?! She spends the whole season openly obsessing over Brad the ex (Adam Demos) and her husband basically tolerates it…almost to the bitter end. It’s creepy. It’s weird. And I was hooked. I had to keep watching to see how much more Cooper would put up with. And Cooper didn’t disappoint. This guy followed Brad the ex into a gyms locker room/shower naked. Both of them, just big old naked. This leads to the season’s most famous scene….Brad’s notorious….appendage? Ladies (and some gentleman) it’s actually real. I researched it. That’s really all I took away from this…A horrifyingly large third-leg…terribly unrealistic sex scenes and some of the worst on-screen relationships I’ve seen in a while. With that being said, the last episode left me wondering…what’s going to happen next?!? Obviously, my tv standards have tanked and I’m not even sorry! So excuse me while I google when season 2 will be released.
