Another month another article on some fucked up visual communications to share with the world! The problem with a lot of these fuck ups is that it falls mostly under one line in the marketing business “Oops, we fucked up, sorry!”
How does this happen? It can be all sorts of things. Some businesses aren’t as diverse as others. Some are not as worried about sexual content as others. Lots of big-time corporate identities just lose touch of there customers and/fans do to change of priorities. It can be all sorts of reasons but in the end… it’s hilarious to see the marketing strategies these companies come up with that truly pisses everyone off! So let’s get this show on the road!
Coca-Cola’s $1 Million Rebranding Iced Tea That Sounds Like Genitals in Europe
Coca-Cola announced a while back that it was bringing its billion-dollar tea brand, Fuze Tea, to 37 countries in Europe. The only problem is that “fuze” doesn’t mean what they thought it did in German-speaking Switzerland.
“Fuz” or “futz” is a “very crude and sexual word” according to Swiss-German weekly newspaper Handelszeitung. As far as whst some friends say it means… well, it means cunt i think it was?! Anyone want some cunt tea?!! Coca-Cola reportedly spent a lot of money to rename the drink.
Entertainment Art Game Shipped new game and weapons
So a great game was coming out “The Godfather II” and they shipped out press copies of the game along with brass knuckles… ya! Boy, I’ll tell ya, if you ever wanna promote a game that would probably do it! Someone finally realized how that might not have been a good idea and sent out emails asking to mail the weapon back so they can dispose of it properly.
You know we would love to have 10,000 brass knuckles in a box just to hand to people whenever we complete a printing order! Just saying, business owners can ask for 10,000 flyers and 2 free brass knuckles… with our advertising engraved so whenever you want to take a swing at somebody our company name and phone number will be imprinted on their forehead! Talk about guerilla marketing!!
McDonald’s Care About There Employees … Maybe
So it’s 2017, McDonald’s wanted to show their employees that they care … by giving them calculators so they can all see how much money they are making. But the employees actually did that. They added up there monthly income then subtracted their expenses only to find out they don’t make enough to live off of McDonald’s.
How about next time they just stick with offering free food or gift cards. Hell, bonus checks would sound amazing, just… you know, the pointer from one business to the other, lol!
