Drawlines B&M: Google Six-Month Certificates

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Google has announced that they will be accepting “Google Learning Certificates” which will be worth as much as a college degree… but in 6 months, instead of 2 or 4 years.

Google is trying to speed up the process of getting more employees under them to cover for in-demand jobs needed for their company. Which… to my knowledge, the reason why we don’t do interning anymore is that kids can’t make up their minds on what they want to do with their lives. So interning at a business waists money for the business trying to help these kids out. I bet the kids today regret losing that chance to easily get into a job! The purpose of the vocational school was to cut regular schooling time in half with similar or equal degrees to get the same jobs that a 4 year would. Google wants to do it all in 6 months?

I worked at Anthem Institue and we did our courses in a year for a business certificate. Teaching kids how to use Adobe software and learn basic coding to help them get into all sorts of jobs. Even had class time to apply for jobs for a whole hour per day. I still keep tabs on my old students on social media. Some rethought their plans others are in their fields now as we speak. Cramming lesson after lesson isn’t easy. Even for my students who ended up cramming how-to classes software after software wasn’t easy.

Let’s also through the ongoing court issues in which one is Google monopolizing the search engine businesses.

O, Google wants to charge you as well for this course. Predictions of the cost are around $300 bucks and Google has already announced it will be sourcing funds for 100,000 scholarships. The courses will give successful students the skills they need to enter into high-paying career fields with growth potential, focusing on subjects such as Data Analytics, Project Management, and User Experience Design to be taught by Google employees. I guess thats the next best thing. The problem with todays cereer

Now they want to take money from the collage systems set up to do what Google is already asking for. The government has a hand in all college tuitions, they ask colleges to raise college tuitions so the government can keep you in debt. Trust me I know. Me and another person, a director, sat down with the head of the school to discuss another possible curriculum to shrink down the old curriculum to 8to 9 months for only $5000. But was told that it would have to be $15000… guess why! Ya, the state wants that money. So you can imagine what the government is going to think when more than 1,000 people show up to take this 6-month course.

“These new career programs are designed and taught by Google employees who work in these fields. The programs equip participants with the essential skills they need to get a job. No degree or prior experience is required to take the courses,” wrote Kent Walker, a senior vice president of global affairs at Google, in a blog post. “Take Yves Cooper, who enrolled in the program through our Grow with Google Partner, Merit America, while working as a van driver. Within five days of completing the program, he was offered a role as an IT helpdesk technician at a nonprofit in his hometown of Washington, D.C.”

“Technology has been a lifeline to help many small businesses during the COVID-19 crisis. And online tools can help people get new skills and find good-paying jobs,” Walker wrote. “College degrees are out of reach for many Americans, and you shouldn’t need a college diploma to have economic security. We need new, accessible job-training solutions – from enhanced vocational programs to online education – to help America recover and rebuild.”

The shift from conventional academia comes in the face of criticism surrounding degrees regarding their accessibility to students. The financial burden of courses that take several years to complete can leave students with enormous debts for years following their graduation. Without job security or the guarantee of a decent wage, undertaking a degree can leave some students worse than they started off. In contrast, the Google Career Certificate aims to prepare students for immediate work for a fraction of the cost of traditional college degrees.
