Episode 7

February 19

O snap, with only 3 episodes left to the season, it’s about that time to start answering the questions, and man they started answering the big questions first! Let’s get through the story first.

Now, this was the time my brother and I started to transition to Netflix full time, Netflix was out on 1998 (yes, we are educated in our articles!). Episode 7 presents as the mockumentary era. The music is like “The office” series but the visuals are exactly the TV show “Happy Endings”

The episode has a nice “Modern Family” vibe which I have to say. Al Bundy… you did it again! Those that don’t know (Married with Child, just watch it!)

The show starts in the morning when the kids realize something is wrong. Everything is… glitching? The kid’s gaming console turns from PlayStation / Xbox to atari then Uno right in front of them. Wanda is just a big bag of emotions and when she comes down for cereal she had to smell the milk before eating because the milk carton kept “shifting” (let’s use that term for this episode!). Then she broke the news to her kids that she isn’t a perfect mom and she doesn’t know where their dad is but whenever he wants to come home there’s the door. The kids mention their uncle but Wanda tells them he is an “imposter”. So, what does that mean for the Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Evan Peters)?

Hayward and the remaining S.W.O.R.D agents who didn’t get sucked up by the expanding boundary of the Hex prepare to launch a major action.

On another part of the ‘Hex’ Woo (Randall Park) and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) escaped the Hex in Episode 6. (Scroll down to check out episode 6). They make it to the rendezvous and… nothing… where is Monica’s “aerospace engineer”? Instead, they meet up with a new S.W.O.R.D agent named Major Goodner, who’s apparently Monica’s side and delivers the vehicle that Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) brainstormed on a board on episode 4 to hopefully penetrate the barrier with. Is that even allowed in a government agency?! Never seen it in real life. Ya, that didn’t really work as planned! The vehicle didn’t even get through before the ‘hex’ launches it like a baseball. Luckily, Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) got out of the vehicle but then ran into the field.

Monica Rambeau makes it through and her eyes blue can now see electromagnetic fields. She shakes it off and running to search for Wanda.

On Episode 6 as the field expanded it not only saved Vision (Paul Bettany) but took in a lot of sword agents and Darcy Lowes (Kat Dennings). Vision wakes up and sees Lowes (Kat Dennings) whom he had an “unspoken connection” on the other side, and frees her from Wanda’s control. Together, the two of them hijack a funnel cake truck and head out to find Wanda while Darcy giving Vision the cliff notes of his life, including his multiple deaths. Vision notices that Wanda doesn’t want to see him and her way of stopping him from reaching her are lots of red lights on intersections, a construction crew to fix the red lights on intersections… kids, crossing an intersection in the far corner of town.

I love how they took a superhero from a movie and placed him in this wacky type of situation. Vision (Paul Bettany) steals a funnel cake truck, really?! And his facial expressions while dressed up as Vision is hilarious.

Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) arrives at Wanda’s house but Wanda’s not interested and uses her abilities to again get ready to toss her out only for Rambeau to use her abilities. Even Wanda was a bit startled by what happened. Rambeau tries to reason with her explaining that she has also lost someone but that pesky Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) arrives, diffusing the situation and leading Wanda over to her house.

Inside Wanda seems to sense that something’s wrong, especially since there’s no sign of the twins. And when Wanda goes down to the basement in search of her boys, she instead finds an old castle basement? “You didn’t think you were the only magical girl in town, did you?” Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) tells Wanda. flashback montage.

Who’s been messing up everything?
It’s been Agatha all along
Who’s been pulling every evil string?
It’s been Agatha all along
She’s insidious
So perfidious
That you haven’t even noticed
And the pity is
Pity pity pity pity
It’s too late to fix anything
Now that everything has gone wrong
Thanks to Agatha
Naughty Agatha
It’s been Agatha all along
And I killed Sparky, too.

The montage reveals that Agatha has been manipulating all of Wanda and Vision’s mishaps, but then the credits come up. But that’s not the end of the easter eggs. Evan Peters‘s name shows up in the final credits for no reason other than memories, but it turns out he is in this episode. Marvel has this thing to add a hint at the end of the credits and they did it on this episode. In a surprise mid-credits sequence, we see Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) snooping around Agatha’s house, only to be confronted by Pietro, he says “Snooper’s gonna snoop,”

Easter Eggs Solved

Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) is Agatha Harkness which means this is definitely the Mephisto story

Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) did go through the field for the 3rd time and she did become Photon.

For those that saw the extra scene at the end of the credits sadly, Pietro is not the real Pietro it’s Mephisto in disguise.

Easter Eggs

The Commercial: Nexus

WandaVision has made a Nexus commercial, in fact, that’s the pill she takes in the morning in the show, but what does it mean in the comic books? There is a lot of things about the Nexus that involve this show. You should definitely get ready for this because it connects… DC comics and Howard the duck, ya! The Nexus ad for episode seven might be the most important. The ad sells an antidepressant called Nexus that “works to anchor you back to your reality – or the reality of your choice.” This may actually be a major clue to WandaVision and how everything is possible.

The Nexus Of All Realities first appeared in a comic book called Fear #11 in December 1972. Fear was a horror anthology comic by Marvel, which was very popular at the time. The Nexus is a cross-dimensional gateway that provides a path to any and all possible realities. The Nexus Of All Realities is a point between many alternate realities and dimensions. This has major implications in the comic books, which thrive on the concept of alternate worlds and timelines, but also for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Numerous possibilities are opened up by the multiverse concept for the MCU. Given the appearance of Quicksilver from the Fox X-Men franchise and the known direction of the MCU toward the multiverse in the form of Spider… people, Doctor Octopus and Electro.

Book of Zhered-na

The Nexus first appearance in the Marvel Universe was by a young woman named Jennifer Kale. Jennifer is a powerful sorceress not unlike Agatha Harkness or Wanda Maximoff. Jennifer’s family are the keepers of the Tome of Zhered-na, a magical book that may or may not hold the book of Zhered-na in Agatha’s basement. An early spell by Jennifer summoned Thog, ->a<- Hell-Lord (Wanted to emphasize that ‘a’ because there are many Hell-Lords but there is only one that we care about right now Mephesto), and accidentally opened up the Nexus in the Everglades. The Nexus Of All Realities manifested in the Everglades near the strange Marvel hero Man-Thing. Man-Thing has some superficial similarities to the DC comic book hero Swamp Thing, but Swamp Thing defends Earth and nature, Man-Thing protects the Nexus. Man-Thing first appeared in Savage Tales issue 1 in May 1971, only a few months before DC launched the Swamp Thing in July of that same year.

The Nexus is connected to every and any reality that ever was, including realities between realities. One of these is a major fixture in the history of the X-Men: the M’Kraan Crystal. This could account for the appearance of Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Evan Peters), Wanda’s imposter brother. The M’Kraan Crystal is similarly the nexus of all realities and a doorway to a universe of neutron stars. It is a giant pink crystal of unknown origin and age, though the Shi’Ar Empire that guards it believes it is older than history.

The Nexus is known to connect directly to another world, called Makray. This brown dead world first appeared in Quasar #50 in September 1993. Numerous characters from Marvel converge in this issue, including Man-Thing and Jennifer Kale. Surprisingly, characters from other franchises do as well. Several beings from other universes appear including Ren & Stimpy, Spawn, Starro from DC Comics, and more. This is an early indicator of the potential of the Nexus to cross beyond the borders of franchises, like the MCU and Fox X-Men. Howard The Duck is an 80s family film that ends much darker than its cartoonish style suggests. The movie showed Howard traveling from his universe into ours, and in the comics, it’s the Nexus Of All Realities that put him on Earth. He drops out of his universe into the Florida Everglades. Howard’s existence in the MCU, revealed in the Guardians Of The Galaxy movies, could also be a result of this. More critically perhaps for WandaVision, Howard at one point became a living Nexus, able to access any dimension himself.

Marvel Comics are full of alternate realities, like the Ultimate Comics world of Earth-1610 that birthed Miles Morales. The Nexus Of All Realities will most likely be the reason Spider-Man 3 will have the spiderverse.

A future science experiment projected the heinous villain Doctor Doom into the Nexus, where he attempted to create an army of the best conquerors throughout all history.

Another powerful example of the Nexus Of All Realities’ ability to cross the boundaries of franchises is Spider-Boy. Spider-Boy is the combination of Spider-Man and Superboy from the 90s’ DC and Marvel Amalgam crossover event that mixed up both universes. Spider-Boy was a living Nexus on his world of Earth-9602.

One of the more bizarre – but perhaps strangely relevant to the MCU stories involving the Nexus concerns Deadpool. Or Dreadpool, as he was known on Earth-12101. This version of the mercenary sought the Nexus Of All Realities in a psychotic attempt to destroy all reality everywhere. This very meta and fourth-wall-breaking episode occurs in Deadpool Kills The Marvel Universe, and could possibly be the foundation for the character’s eventual debut in the MCU in Deadpool 3.

Howard The Duck and Spider-Boy are examples of ‘Nexus Beings’ in the Marvel Comics universe. So is the Scarlet Witch. Nexus Beings are individuals with the ability to affect probability and thus the future, thereby altering the flow of the Universal Time Stream. They are watched over by the Time Variance Authority, known to be a major factor of the upcoming Loki series.

Wanda Maximoff was of particular concern because Nexus Beings also have the potential to produce unbelievably powerful offspring, powerful enough to stand among the most cosmic forces in the universe. Given the focus on the powers of Tommy AKA Speed (Julian Hilliard) and Billy AKA Wiccan (Jett Klyne) in WandaVision, it could be that these two harbor power that Agatha Harkness and Maphesto, like in the comics, want to use for themselves.

Reed Richards or Doom

Still no sign of the mysterious “aerospace engineer,” but one of them will hopefully show up.

1997’s Contact movie

(Got this info from another fan) Monica’s journey through The Hex pays homage to the special effects technique Robert Zemeckis used in the wormhole sequence for 1997’s ‘Contact’. During the scene in question, versions of Jodie Foster’s face appear to ghost out from her body, voicing her internal thoughts and memories. By the time Monica emerges from the Hex barrier, she is “ok to go” as a superpowered being. ‘Contact’’s central character, Ellie Arroway, is a woman who has lost her whole family but suppresses her grief and feels all alone in the universe.  Maybe those wondering if the mysterious aerospace engineer will turn out to be Mister Fantastic or Doctor Doom have never considered ‘Contact’ star Matthew McConaughey as a possibility for one of the latter two roles? We might remind you he’s been desperate for a part in the MCU for years.

Wundagore

(Got this info from another fan) In the comics, the Everbloom was a wedding present from Agatha Harkness to Wanda and Vision, and only grows on Wundagore Mountain (where Scarlet Witch and Piedro AKA Quicksilver were raised). It lets you see the future if you put a dab leaf on your tongue. The fact that whatever this seems to have taken over the basement makes us think of the Yo Magic commercial from last week, which implied that someone (or something) is perhaps feeding off Wanda’s powers.

Agatha Harkness

While Agatha Harkness was able to trick Vision by pretending to be another victim driven insane by being in the Hex, Billy AKA Wiccan (Jett Klyne) is unknowingly able to see past that by noticing that there isn’t any psychic pain underneath her performance.

Episode 6

February 12, 2020

It’s the Halloween episode! When you watch the trailers, it always seems like a big integral part of the story, and MAN it is! This episode has some Kickass Easter Eggs!!!. (See that, saw what I did… no? ah, You’ll see!!)

The show started with the recap of what’s going on so far. The recap also shows the other Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) getting shot on Avengers: Age of Ultron. Then we had the theme song that practically tells you to stop questioning the reality of Westview and enjoy what’s going on like everything is just fine. The whole feel is like every early 2000’s show does… Like “Malcolm in the Middle“!  Which is hilarious. The show gets the twins, Tommy AKA Speed (Julian Hilliard) and Billy AKA Wiccan (Jett Klyne), to start breaking the 4th wall and explain what’s going on in a comedic way. Everyone introduces themselves in their Halloween costume and it’s pretty awesome. Dressing them up as themselves I think is the best thing you can do in a story like this and they nailed it. Perfect time, perfect story! But here is a little twist, Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) shows off her costume, and one twin comments on it only to be ‘rewritten’ to her costume being ‘lame’ after Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Evan Peters) says it himself.

Come on, perfect!

Remembering the last episode Vision (Paul Bettany) discovered what Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) is doing but Vision keeps his act on and then said he was part of the neighborhood watch. As soon as he said that she tried to correct him… like a director. She says “No, that’s not what you’re supposed…”. What obviously was supposed to happen is they were supposed to go trick or treating together as a family. It seems Vision is trying to do this under the radar to get past Wanda and her show. She plays along though. Wanda and Vision seem to be losing their bond with each other and now the kids are seeing it as marital problems as they explain it to us, the viewers of the show.

Back in the real world Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) confronts Heyward for sending a drone with a missile to kill Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen). Heyward kicks Rambeau out with Lowes (Kat Dennings) and Woo (Randall Park)

In the ‘Hex’, they are off trick or treating, and  Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Evan Peters) is being the fun uncle as he says things like “Unless hell, demon spawn”. Mm, that’s a close reference to Mephisto!  As Vision (Paul Bettany) instead of “neighborhood watching” he goes to the far side of town figuring out what’s going on. Well, it’s an interesting look “behind the scenes”! Everyone is frozen. Vision (Paul Bettany) finds Agnes (Kathryn Hahn). Her costume is a witch, in the comics… she’s a witch that works with Mephisto. In her daze, Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) mentions getting lost, with Vision pointing out that she supposedly grew up in this town. Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) also talks about making a “wrong turn.” This might have something to do with Agnes’ claim in the first episode that she didn’t actually come to town until after Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision had (jokingly citing a visit from her mother-in-law as the reason). She also says he is an Avenger but he is dead. He doesn’t know who the Avengers are. Does that mean he doesn’t remember who Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) really is? He doesn’t remember Ultron?

In the real world, Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), Lowes (Kat Dennings), and Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) sneak into the server room and Rambeau says she is meeting her eurospace friend in less than an hour. Remember that last post in our last article?

They discover that S.W.O.R.D has been able to track Vision by scanning for vibranium but didn’t bother to mention the satelite to Rambeau.

If that doesn’t answer some of the questions we put forth then him walking out the town, out the ‘Hex’, did. Man the episode picked up so fast. He drags himself out to the real world only to start breaking apart. Pieces of him start breaking apart as he tries to call for help. Not for himself though for the people inside. S.W.O.R.D didn’t do anything, why is that a thing, government just sits and watches on the worst time!

Billy’s powers kick in hitting the kid with warnings of his father and he stops his brother from running and calls for his mom for help.  Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Evan Peters) literally says “Vision can’t die twice right?” as a joke and Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) throw him with her abilities. She freezes the whole town and uses your abilities to increase the size of the ‘Hex’ field taking back Vision and turning the S.W.O.R.D agents into clowns… That seems right!!

Easter Eggs Answered

We mentioned, was Vision (Paul Bettany) a multiverse Vision, or was he our Vision? He seems to be ours but with lost memory which I’m assuming from his head being crushed by Thanos in Avenger: EndGame.

Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) was going to meet the aerospace engineer soon but then got taken in by the ‘Hex’ field. She said ‘meet him’ so this is not Sue Storm she is meeting so it can either be Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) or Victor Von Doom (Dr. Doom). If the field has moved enough toward the meeting point that may mean the that 1 person (Doom) or the 4 team might already of gotten hit by the cosmic microwave radiation. Remember Rambeau has already gone through it 2 times which means going through it one time is ok, two times show change, three times??

Easter Eggs

Recap

The recap makes sure to show Avengers: Age of Ultron, Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) footage to show we half two different versions of Quicksilver.

Run

Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Evan Peters) speed effect is very much how his power was represented in Avengers: Age of Ultron, not how it was in the X-Men films. He seems to have at least some of the memories of Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson)…assuming that’s who he is in the first place.

4th Wall

I have noticed, Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Evan Peters) watching Billy AKA Wiccan (Jett Klyne) talk to us, the viewer. A character noticing another character breaking the 4th wall, when that character himself… can’t break the 4th. Does this go back to the “blood is thicker the powers” rule? In the comics, cyclops and Havok used their powers on each other but nothing happened, it’s cause they are family. But Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) was able to use her powers when he talks smack about Vision.

Undead

Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Evan Peters) for a hot second shows off dead. The corpse of himself with bullet holes in his chest like Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson).

Aerospace Friend

Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) said she knows a good aerospace engineer. The one that comes to mind for me is Reed Richards (Mr. Fantastic) or Victor Von Doom (Dr. Doom). Is this the intro to the Fantastic 4? Or a reboot of the reboot to the Fantastic 4? If my thoughts are correct from the last article of WandaVision then the scientists from S.W.O.R.D are the new Fantastic 4 actors. Or they are bringing in the Fantastic 4 team outside of S.W.O.R.D and hopefully the reboot actors. (side note, if they do bring in the reboot actors… how are they going to explain Sue Storm? The actress was in Iron Man 2 giving Tony Stark a summons) However combination of backstory they make to make this happen this will definitely lead to the new Fantastic 4 movie.

Kick-Ass

Tommy said “Kick-ass” and Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) repeats, “Kick-ass?” out loud. The movie Kick-ass starred Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) as the titular character while  Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Evan Peters) played his best friend.

Need for Speed

Piedro AKA Quicksilver (Evan Peters) and Tommy say, “I feel the need for speed!” The quote is from 1986’s Top Gun. The upcoming Top Gun sequel has Miles Teller who played Reed Richards in the Fantastic 4 reboot. Also, Tommy’s superhero name in the comics is  Thomas “Tommy” Shepherd AKA Speed (Julian Hilliard)

If that ‘Hex’ field made up of cosmic microwave radiation changed Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) (AKA Geraldine, in town name) by a cellular level when she got hit twice and those clues about the Fantastic 4 are good, does that mean that the Fantastic 4 team works for S.W.O.R.D? Does getting hit 3 times or a certain amount of it give you abilities? Ok… that last question was stupid but I’m keeping it because how long before it wears off? Is it permanent after 1, 2 hits of this radiation?

Mephisto

We have claimed that this is the work of Mephisto, look back at the easter eggs in our previous article. Now, let’s also throw out there that we do not know how the MCU will represent Mephisto. In Iron Man 3, Tony Stark’s main villain in the comics and cartoon was the Mandarin a Chinese nobleman, scientist and former diplomat turned criminal mastermind. In the movie, the Mandarin was an actor hired by the villain of the movie Aldrich Killian but never been in the comics.

The Iron Man 3 movie also sets up the future of, what once was the word ‘mutants’, Inhumans. They wanted to give a proper name other than ‘super’ hero / villain which Marvel did a long time ago before selling their stories. If you want to know what’s going on with Inhumans click here.

Will Mephisto still try to take Wanda’s ‘magic’? Or will they convert him into taking the stone’s powers that, as far as we know, the stone has given. Or is it magic that the stone has enhanced (someone else has mentioned)

Wiccan and Speed

Billy AKA Wiccan (Jett Klyne) and Tommy AKA Speed (Julian Hilliard) are starting to resemble their comic book counterparts more and more. Billy in particular is wearing his “Wiccan” costume from the comics, and Tommy continues to conform to his “Speed” color scheme…except when he dresses like his Uncle Pietro as Quicksilver.

Why are we bringing him up particularly? The twins. Tommy AKA Speed and Billy AKA Wiccan in the comics were a manifestation in a way to help drain Scarlett Witch’s ‘magical’ power while keeping her calm. The conflict? The movie / TV show side of the Marvel Universe hasn’t really brought ‘magic’ into the MCU other than Dr. Strange, which was a high risk on Marvels part because it is very hard to mix magic & futuristic science (thor is magic in comics but aliens in MCU with science tech), space travel and aliens, mutations, magical old stones, and time travel all in one large story for specific characters.

These kids dressed up as the characters in the comics. which is helping us point more and more that this is the doing of Mephisto.

The Brother

But in this episode, Piedro AKA Quicksilver for some reason hasn’t really been affected by the ‘Hex’, the town, in fact, he asks some hard questions that Wanda (Elizabeth Olsen) did not want to face. Just look at what happened to Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) (AKA Geraldine, in town name).
